The May 17, 2017 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's Roanoke VA. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 PM. Motion was made to approve the April minutes, motion second and approved. The education portion of the meeting on Cut Timber Sale began at 12:47 and was given by William Barbour. Information was presented for the requirements of preparing returns related to the cutting and sale of timber. The presentation was very informative and there was a question and discussion time at the conclusion. Next meeting will be held on June 21 Location to be determined. Meeting adjourned at 2:00 P.M. The June 21, 2017 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's Roanoke VA. David Tanner, President called the meeting to order at 12:07 p.m. David welcomed a new VASEA member, Kimberly J. E. Williamson of Christiansburg. Everyone introduced themselves. Motion was made (Gail Abbott) and seconded by (Charles Spencer) to approve the May 17, 2017 minutes; motion passed. The Treasurer's report was given by Charles Spencer for Fritz Greimel. A discussion of upcoming meetings, topics and presenters was held. The following is known at this time: July 19 – IRA's including Roth by Gail Abbott August 16 – Tom Tanner, topic TBA September 20 – Ley Mills – "Get Transcripts" October 18 – Benny Montgomery – Whistleblower December 20 – Ley Mills at Becky's, topic TBA January 17 – PENDING Past due dues were collected. Discussion was held about the upcoming renewal of the web site, estimated cost $339.99 The education portion of the meeting on Tax Rules for Children and Dependents, by Charles R. Spencer, EA, began at 12:20 p.m. and concluded at 1:15 p.m.; one (1) hour of CE was awarded for the presentation. It was announced our next meeting will be on July 19, 2017 at Noon and the speaker will be Gail Abbott on the topic of IRA's including Roths. The July 19, 2017 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's Roanoke, VA. David Tanner called the meeting to order at 12:00 PM. Motion made by Gail Abbott to approve June 21, 2017 meeting minutes. Motion passed. Treasurer's report was given by Fritz Greimel. Motion was made by Charles Spencer to remove fee for new members until January. Motion Passed. Motion to approve the payment of our web hosting site, approved. The education portion of the meeting on IRAs given by Gail Abbott EA began at 12:30 PM and concluded 1:40; one hour of CE was awarded for the presentation. Next meeting to be held August 16, 2017. |
