The September 19, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Ippy's in Rocky Mount, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p m by David Tanner, President. The minutes of the August meeting and the treasurer's report were approved as presented. Information was presented on the VASEA annual meeting in Virginia Beach, Va .on October 25th and the NCPE continuing education to be presented in November. There was no action to be taken. The October 17th meeting will be in Lynchburg and one hour of continuing education on Ethics will be presented with the second hour to be in Rocky Mount on December 19th. Brian Hamilton of Agabus Solutions presented an informative program on Safeguarding Your Data. The security of your and clients' information and reducing risks on your computer systems and your need for secure backup in the event of any problems with any and all programs. The October 17, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Super China Buffet in Lynchburg, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p m by David Tanner, President. Minutes of the September 19th meeting were approved as presented. Benny Montgomery presented the first hour of Ethics and the second hour will be at our December 19th meeting at Ippy's in Rocky Mount and will be presented by Gail Abbott. One hour of continuing education is granted for each session. There will be no meeting in November due to the education seminars and the Thanksgiving Holiday. Upon motion, the meeting was adjourned. The December 17, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Ippy's in Rocky Mount, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:25 p m. David Tanner. He announced that our speaker next month would be from the IRS and our meeting would be at Famous Anthony's in Roanoke on Route 460. Charles Spencer reported on the December 6 conference call regarding education from the Virginia Society. The IRS wants to explore video conferencing education as they will no longer send speakers to events. Various ways and means of enabling the chapters to do this were discussed. Charles also mentioned that a list of expiring federal tax provisions is available online from the Joint Committee on Taxation. Gail Abbott continued the ethics presentation begun by Benny Montgomery in October. The presentation began at 12:55 p.m. and ended at 1:55 p.m., one hour of CPE will be awarded for attendance at this meeting. The session was adjourned at 2:00. Charles Spencer Acting Secretary |
