The September meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, September 17th at China Super Buffet in Lynchburg, Va. The business meeting was called to order by Rebecca Donehew. David Tanner, Treasurer reported the balance on hand as $1,087.92. Rebecca Donehew spoke on Earned Income Credit and Child Tax Credits. Her presentation began at 12:45 p.m. and ended at 1:45 p.m. CPE of l hour will be given. The October 15th meeting will be at Famous Anthony's on Williamson Road in Roanoke. Our speaker, Larry Lucas from the Virginia Employment Commission will present current information from the VEC. The meeting was adjourned at 1:55 P. M. Nancy H. Lynch, EA Secretary |

The October meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at Famous Anthony's on Williamson Road in Roanoke, Va. Due to a shortage of officers, there was no business meeting. Larry Lucas from the Virginia Employment Commission presented current information on the VEC. The Roanoke office will move to Crossroads in the old DMV offices with local tax representatives working out of the homes. The Buena Vista office will close and more offices are expected to close by 2010. The meeting was adjourned at 2:00 P. M. Nancy H. Lynch, EA Secretary |

The December meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at the home of Rebecca and Paul Donehew in Daleville, Virginia. The business meeting was dispensed with as no items for discussion were on the agenda. The January meeting time and place will be posted on the website. Our hosts provided a very good buffet luncheon. William Barbour and Charles Spencer led the round table discussion of new tax law changes for the upcoming filing season and future years.
