The April meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at the Szechuan Restaurant in Roanoke. Topics included:

The May meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, May 18, 2005, at Ippy’s Restaurant in Rocky Mount, VA. G.B. Washburn of the Farm Service Agency in Rocky Mount presented a program on the Tobacco Buyout Program. Benny Montgomery, EA then presented a program on Like-Kind Exchanges. The June meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Holiday Inn Select in Lynchburg, VA. Nancy Lynch, President called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m. Nancy Lynch, Charles Spencer and Benny Montgomery led a round table discussion. The discussion centered on the topics from the recent VASEA Spring Seminar; Bankruptcy, Planning for the Older Client, Divorce in Virginia and Ethics. At the conclusion of the discussion we discussed the possibility of obtaining Dr. Helen M. Roybark, Professor of Taxation, Radford University, for either the July or August meeting - topic and location of her choosing. Benny Montgomery indicated he would lead the September meeting on Ethics and distributed a hand out to be studied and researched before that meeting. Click here for a copy. Mike Harrison, Sharon Warren and Ann Wood are the committee for the December meeting - Virginia Tax Update and possibly a North Carolina Update - place to be determined. Charles Spencer agreed to contact Becky Donehew about her contacting Steve Scher, CPA, IRS Revenue Agent - Field Compliance, to present a training session on either October 19 or November 16.
