The August meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's in Roanoke, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p.m. by David Tanner. Business: The educational portion of the meeting began at 12:20 p.m. Rebecca Donehew began her presentation "Reconstructing Vehicle Mileage Logs" - IRS Program Number QSRNU-T-00355-18-I. The educational portion concluded at 1:20 p.m. One hour of Continuing Education were awarded to all participants that signed in, remained for the entire session and listed their PTINs. The September meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's, Challenger Ave., Roanoke, VA. The meeting was called to order at 12:05 p.m. by David Tanner. Gail Abbott moved and Bill Barbour seconded a motion to approve the following previous meeting minutes; April 18, 2018; May 16, 2018; June 20, 2018; July 18, 2018; and, August 15, 2018. The motion passed unanimously. Gunther "Fritz"Greimel presented the Treasurer's Report. Gail Abbott presented the Education Committee Report. Training for the rest of the year will be as follows:
Charles Spencer moved and Gail Abbott seconded a motion as follows: move the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents authorize and pay the following expenses for the Chapter's Web Site for 2018 thru 2019. The motion passed unanimously.
Knox Wimberly then gave an update on Legislative activities. At 12:20 p.m., Knox Wimberly began the educational portion of the meeting on Cryptocurrency Ethics: IRS Program Number QSRNU-E-00359-18-I. This was a highly informative Ethics program. The two (2) hour program concluded at 2:05 p.m. Two (2) hours of Continuing Education was awarded to all participants that signed in, remained for the entire session and listed their PTINs. A motion was made, seconded to approve September's meeting minutes, motion passed. Business: The educational portion of the meeting began at 12:26 p.m. Jeremy Lassiter began his presentation on "The 1040 Audit": IRS Program Number QSRNU-T-00363-18-I. The educational portion concluded at 1:30 p.m. One hour of Continuing Education will be awarded to all participants that signed in, remained for the entire session and listed their PTINs. The next meeting will be December 19, 2018 at Famous Anthony Orange Ave., Roanoke, VA. A motion was made, seconded and passed to adjourn.
