The September meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's in Lynchburg, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p m by David Tanner. David informed the Chapter that the October meeting will be at Famous Anthony's on Challenger Avenue in Roanoke, and the topic of discussion will be the Affordable Care Act. The elections for officers for the chapter will take place at the December meeting. Benny Montgomery is chairman of the nominating committee. Charles Spencer reported that the fees for the website are due again, and break down as $99.00 for hosting, $15.99 for the Domain Name, and $225.00 for site maintenance through JTK Web, for a total of $339.99 to cover the expense for one year. He moved that the club authorize reimbursement to him of $114.99 for the hosting and domain name, and payment to JTK Web of $225.00. Fritz Greimel, treasurer, gave his Treasurer's Report and indicated sufficient funds were available for these payments. He also reported the Chapter has not received dues from two current members and will receive dues from a new member, Jonathan Williams. Bill Barbour seconded Charles' motion, and the motion passed by acclamation. Heather Greenwell, the executive director of the state society, reported that due to the increased workload of IRS reporting requirements for CPE, she has been approved to hire a part-time assistant. A Chapter Leadership Summit is tentatively scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on October 23, the day before the VASEA Current Issues Seminar and Annual Meeting. David mentioned that he cannot attend. A conference call of chapter leadership is scheduled for tomorrow, September 26 at 4:00. Heather also gave David a chapter leadership survey to be completed by the chapter and returned to her. She also reminded everyone of the Current Issues Seminar coming up in October in Dulles; next year's seminar and annual meeting will be held in Lynchburg and she would appreciate suggestions from the chapter regarding appropriate hotels. No further business was discussed; Benny Montgomery concluded the second part of his two part series about Trust Fund Penalties. One hour of CPE will be awarded for this program. The October 16, 2013 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's, Williamson Road in Roanoke, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:15 p.m. by David Tanner. Minutes from the August meeting have not been posted but will be. The treasurer reported on the balance in the checking account. Benny was reminded that the nominating committee must report on nominations by December in order to elect officers. No meeting will be held in November due to seminars by NCPE and Virginia Tech. The December meeting will be from the Tax Book Ethics program. Paul Taylor presented a program on the Affordable Care Act. The December 18, 2013 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's in Roanoke, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p m by David Tanner and began with the first hour of Ethics presentation by Gail Abbott. At 12:50, Ms. Abbott concluded and the business meeting was held. Benny Montgomery reported from the nominating committee and the following officers were elected/re-elected:
Fritz Greimel gave the treasurer's report. Michael Harrison reported that the state will be holding a Chapter Leadership Summit at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at the Hampton Inn in Fredericksburg in conjunction with their Spring/Summer seminar. Mr. Montgomery then presented the second hour of the ethics after which the meeting was adjourned. Two hours of CPE will be awarded for this program. Nancy H. Lynch, Secretary |
