The January 18, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Ippy's in Rocky Mount, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p m by Michael Harrison, Vice-President. Minutes of the December 14, 2011 meeting were approved as posted. Gunther Greimel gave a treasurer's report which was approved as presented. The next meeting will be at Famous Anthony's on Route 460 East on April 18, 2012 at which time there will be a Round Table discussion of the current tax season. Education was presented by Gail Abbott on Foreign Bank Accounts and Cash Transactions beginning at 12:50 and ending at 1:50. Upon motion, the meeting was adjourned. Nancy H. Lynch, Secretary |

The April 18, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony's on Williamson Road in Roanoke, Va. The meeting was called to order at 12:00 p m by David Tanner, President. The January, 2012 minutes and treasurer's report were approved. The just ended tax season and some unusual tax situations were discussed by the members. Also, the subject of member continuing education credits and meeting the requirements for credit according to the Internal Revenue Service and the fact that VASEA has been able to get approval for the member chapters to present education for credit. A conference call regarding continuing education will be held and volunteers were requested to listen in for the chapter. There will be more information available at the next meeting for individual chapters to meet the requirements. The May meeting will be at Famous Anthony's on Orange Avenue in Roanoke. The May 16, 2012 meeting of the Blue Ridge Chapter of the Virginia Society of Enrolled Agents was held at Famous Anthony’s in Roanoke, Va. President David Tanner called the meeting to order at 12:00 p m and welcomed Heather Greenwell, VASEA Administrator of the State Society. Motion was made by Benny Montgomery seconded by Charles Spencer to approve the minutes of the April meeting. There was considerable discussion regarding the requirements for continuing education. Members were asked to look at the website for presentations available which have been pre-approved for continuing education. Heather discussed the RTRP preparation classes VASEA is making available for tax preparers required to be licensed after the 2013 year. VAESA is partnering with Gleim in teaching classes and is looking for teachers in different areas of the state to be involved. Additional information will be available with times and places. The June 20th meeting will be in Lynchburg with the place to be determined. Motion was made by Sharon Warren to adjourn. Nancy H. Lynch, Secretary |
